Premail v1.2.2: Verification Codes Within Reach

· Written by Matt Senter, creator of Premail

You are halfway through signing in when a service asks for the code it just emailed. Opening your inbox can turn that small task into another round of checking mail. Premail v1.2.2 puts eligible codes within reach and gives you a quick way to answer cold outreach that slipped through.

Copy a code without opening your inbox

Security Quick Access extracts fresh verification codes locally after new mail in a Live account matches an enabled Security rule. A lock appears on the tray icon, and a small popup shows the sender with a masked code. Click to copy the real code. On macOS, the native popup leaves keyboard focus where it was, so you can keep typing.

Your Security rule can still file the message away. Codes and eligible verification links remain available in the tray menu. The setting is enabled by default; turn it off or back on from the Security rule or Security Organizer pack.

Codes expire within five minutes of receipt; links within fifteen, or sooner when a shorter lifetime is stated. Actions are held in memory, with no saved quick-action history. Copying is explicit, and expiry does not erase the operating system clipboard.

This works on classified Security mail, so allowlisted messages and Junk or Spam folders are excluded. Failed sender authentication blocks quick actions. Missing authentication results permit code copying, but links require verified sender authentication and a matching sender domain. Some legitimate messages will have no quick action; you can still open the original email. See the Security Quick Access guide for setup and limits.

Send your saved response from Activity

If an unsolicited pitch reaches your inbox, use Send auto-reply on its eligible Activity row. It sends the account’s saved response immediately, even when automatic replies are off. Free uses the standard Premail message; Pro can use a custom template.

The message stays in place and its classification does not change. Manual and automatic replies share once-per-sender protection and a daily limit of 50 per account. Learning previews cannot send replies. Review your template before clicking: this sends a saved cold-outreach response, not a newly composed answer. The auto-reply guide covers templates and send access.

More reliable day-to-day filtering

This release improves cold-email recognition and aligns automatic replies with the matched rule’s confidence threshold, while keeping authentication checks. Replies have more readable spacing, and the standard template tells known contacts how to flag a mistaken response through another channel. Custom templates stay intact.

Apple Intelligence refusals now receive bounded retries with backoff. Eligible live failures can be retried later, with clearer failure details if classification still cannot finish. Premail never switches your AI provider automatically. The briefing tray clock also clears when its briefing is already visible, including a scheduled update that arrives while you are reading.
